I have a habit of glancing through my window and gazing at street lights across the city. These streetlights stand tall amidst the darkness. Although, they are surrounded by a heap of insects they persistently follow a workman like approach and shows the way to us, so that we can travel safely. The bent posture of these streetlights depicts in true sense their tiredness in servicing us.
I find it quite similar to a customer care officer. A Person into customer care is similar to a streetlight in the respect that both of them service the society with a smile irrespective of their own circumstances. The bear the brunt of attack (customer in case of a customer care representative and insects in case of a streetlight). Another distinct similarity which is clearly evident is that both them are at work at night. A strange feeling of working at night, when the world around you is at rest in comfort of a soft pillow and a cozy bed.
A closer observation helped me to learn something out of this absurd comparison. Just as a streetlight lives through the horrors of the darkness and the buzz of the insects, a customer services representatives lives through the difficulties posed by irate customers, work pressure and social isolation. I think we should people should show some respect to people working as a customer care representative.
